New York Mets

The New York Mets play their home games at Citi Field, which opened in 2009 and is located in New York. The stadium holds 41922 fans.

The 2023 season for the New York Mets in the MLB was full of ups and downs. Despite a promising start and a roster with great potential, the team fell short of expectations, finishing with a record of 75-87 and securing the fourth spot in the National League East Division.

Injuries were one of the main obstacles the Mets faced during the season. Key players such as Starling Marte, Max Scherzer, and Jeff McNeil were affected by injuries that limited their time on the field. Additionally, inconsistency in batting and defense were also contributing factors to their underperformance.

Looking ahead to 2024, the Mets are shaping up as a team with significant potential. Health will be a determining factor for their success, as the return of key players could boost their performance.

The organization was formed in 1961, and the name Mets was chosen over several other suggestions because it was short and easy, similar to the corporate name (the New York Metropolitan Baseball Club Inc.), widely accepted by fans. The Mets have won two World Series championships (1969, 1986) and five National League (NL) pennants.
